3: Small but mighty: One Latina’s journey in academia

Every entomologist’s journey into the field may be different, but all are paved with the opportunities we have had and the challenges we have faced. As a Latina woman working in a Land Grant Institution, I have faced many roadblocks, both internal and external, but I have also found many allies, friends, and opportunities that have brought me to where I am today. This presentation will provide an overview of my experiences, lessons learned, and barriers that I’ve overcome on my path to becoming an Assistant Professor. My hope is that the next generation of Hispanic entomologists will see themselves in some part of my journey and feel empowered to continue with their journey.
