The narrow connection between North and South America is a region of complex climate, topography, habitat, and history. The ADMAC project (Ant Diversity of the MesoAmerican Corridor) applied UCE (UltraConserved Element) phylogenomics to reveal patterns of ant diversification from southern Mexico to Costa Rica. We showcase results showing (1) species delimitation and the discovery of high cryptic diversity in Rasopone, (2) global patterns of dispersal in and out of MesoAmerica in Adelomyrmex, (3) biogeographic patterns within the region for Stenamma, (4) intraspecific phylogeographic patterns in Pheidole, and (5) investigation of montane specialization. Phylogenomics is revealing the history of ant diversification in MesoAmerica with a greater clarity than ever possible before.
