Hemp is a new crop to United States agriculture and there is still very little documented information in regards to successful crop growth, production, and pest management. In Virginia, studies to address crop loss due to insect herbivory and biological insecticide efficacy have occurred since 2018. Data show that up to 75% leaf area loss does not negatively impact physical yield or cannabinoid production. Trials to manage corn earworm via the use of biological insecticides show promising results for nucleopolyhedrovirus products.
