Most entomology classes on collections are offered as part of credit-bearing classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In this poster, I share a new module I designed to teach adults the process of starting your own insect collection. One in-person and one zoom class have been offered, and a broad group of individuals including homeschooled youth, 4H club leaders, extension master gardeners, and museum educators have participated in the classes. Interacting with learners who are not and will not become entomologists requires adapting course content to remain engaging and to provide the training to help students find resources on insect identification. I will share a summary of the successes and challenges of managing this revenue generating course.
