Insecticide resistance in the German cockroach continues to be a subject of interest to the pest management industry, insecticide manufacturers, academic researchers and the general public. Resistance initially appeared in cockroaches to the first synthetic insecticides over 60 years ago and the same trends continue today with newer insecticides. The goals of this presentation are to build on historical perspectives and highlight new incidences of resistance, as well as new insights obtained on resistance evolution, monitoring, mechanisms and management.
