The ant keeping community is an extremely active nexus of entomological interest. With over 16,000 messages per day in one community alone, one might wonder what the driving forces are that nurture such sustained excitement and dedication. In this keynote, I will be speaking from my experience as the leader of two of the largest ant keeping communities to outline the specific components and personalities that enable the best of what the ant keeping hobbyist community has to offer.
