Insecticide resistance has evolved to all current MOA classes of insecticides and must be countered by effective proactive and reactive management strategies. These insect resistance management (IRM) strategies must be coordinated across the industry and that is where the Insecticide Resistance Action Committee (IRAC) comes in. There, crop protection companies collaborate on the design and implementation of IRM strategies. In this presentation I talk about the role of IRAC and Gary Thompson's contributions through IRAC. I use two examples to illustrate the challenges of IRM and IRAC's capabilties: fall armyworm and soybean looper in Puerto Rico and diamondback moth in Hawaii.
