A major issue that slows down and hampers research is that many behavioural experiments can be hard to reproduce. Many factors contribute to this, and though many of these can be controlled with enough time, money and resources, these are often not available, especially at field sites and with field collected insects. The Zantiks MWP unit is a highly automated and controlled experimental chamber, available at relatively low cost and of small size, and runs from 12V. We present data collected using 6 systems from two locations and 2 dates in the UK, and compare the results. The experiments focus on startle responses of Drosophila adults to light off, and mosquito larvae (Culex spp) to vibrations.
